Grief Support Specialist

Courtney Thompson serves as the Grief Support Specialist at Country Hills Pet Hospital, where she provides compassionate support to families navigating the loss of a beloved pet. Her role focuses on helping clients through one of the most difficult parts of pet ownership by offering emotional support, guidance, and resources during times of grief and transition.

As the daughter of Dr. Mark Thompson, Courtney has been connected to Country Hills Pet Hospital for most of her life, serving in various roles throughout the clinic over the years. Growing up immersed in veterinary medicine gave her a deep appreciation for the powerful bond between people and their pets and the emotional challenges families experience during illness and loss.

Courtney earned both her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Social Work from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. In addition to her work with Country Hills Pet Hospital, she provides mental health support to children and families in Texas, helping Medicaid recipients navigate emotional, behavioral, and life challenges through compassionate care and advocacy.

Courtney combines her professional training in social work with a lifelong connection to veterinary medicine to provide meaningful, empathetic support to grieving pet families. She is passionate about helping others feel seen, supported, and cared for during difficult moments.

Courtney lives in Texas. In her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking, painting, reading, and traveling. An avid traveler, she has visited more than half of the United States and approximately ten countries. She especially enjoys returning to Wisconsin to spend time with her family.
