Dr. Mark Thompson

Dr. Thompson is a veterinarian who grew up on a dairy farm in rural Wisconsin. His passion for science led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and he obtained his DVM degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1996.

Currently, Dr. Thompson is the owner of Country Hills Pet Hospital, a small animal practice located in Eden, Wisconsin. His practice has received recognition for its excellence, being named a finalist for the AAHA-Accredited Practice of the Year Award in 2016 and winning the top honors in 2018.

In addition to being a skilled veterinarian, Dr. Thompson is also a canine-rehabilitation specialist and a graduate of AAHA’s Veterinary Management Institute. He furthered his education by completing an MBA degree from Capella University in 2020.

Dr. Thompson’s family includes his wife, their daughter who recently graduated from Baylor University with a master’s in social work, and their son who is currently studying computer science. They reside in Fond du Lac along with their Havanese dog named Bentley.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Thompson enjoys staying active through activities such as curling and cycling. He also has an interest in landscaping and spends his spare time working on it.

Dr. Thompson is actively involved in organized veterinary medicine and has received recognition for his contributions. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Award in 2012 and the Outstanding Service Team of the Year in 2019 by the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association. Currently, he serves as the president on the board of directors for the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is a professional association for veterinary hospitals and clinics in the United States and Canada. AAHA is dedicated to promoting high standards of veterinary care and providing resources and support to its member hospitals.

As a member of the AAHA board of directors, Dr. Thompson plays a crucial role in shaping the association’s policies and initiatives. He serves as the president, which demonstrates his leadership and commitment to advancing veterinary medicine.

AAHA offers accreditation to veterinary hospitals that meet specific standards of excellence in various areas, including medical care, diagnostics, pharmacy, management, and facilities. This accreditation process ensures that member hospitals provide the highest quality of care for their patients.

Through AAHA, veterinarians have access to continuing education opportunities, resources, and networking events. The association also advocates for the veterinary profession and collaborates with other organizations to address important issues in animal healthcare.
